I Am Cuba
I Am Cuba
was actually shot as an elaborate pro-Castro piece of Soviet propaganda, but instead it's as if everyone in question just went gaga, drunk on the sheer beauty of Cuba and making up new film techniques as they went along. The film is a stylistically brilliant quartet of vignettes set during the waning years of the Batista regime. The interconnecting stories that propel the film along were written by Russian poet laureate Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
"...released under the aegis of both Martin Scorsese and
Francis
Ford
Coppola

Bram Stoker's Dracula
Coppola
's take on the very old story is deliciously fresh. Oldman's Dracula has a stylized, almost hyperreal clarity and a singular weirdness.

Life, Death, and Dance
Robert Duvall loves to tango. Robert Duvall loves Buenos Aires. And Robert Duvall loves Luciana Pedraza, the ravishing Argentinean-born woman who plays opposite him in Assassination Tango, a film in which the screen legend somehow conflates all these things.
