The Whole Foods Market outlet near the Domain development in North Austin has been on the drawing board for several years. Postponed twice while the company built stores to serve the burgeoning population in the Southwest area of Travis County, Austin's fifth Whole Foods Market is finally set to come online in mid-January of 2014.

Dazed But Not Confused: Kurt Vile
Kurt Vile gives us hope. He never had a big break, but rather became popular in the most elemental of ways – good music over a goodly period of time. His smoky voice and gently diffusing guitar now welcomes an audience far beyond any cultish origins. Tonight’s show – outdoors at Mohawk – prompted a call to the six-string virtuoso.

Delbert McClinton Oughta Know
Countless films, Rancho Deluxe to Road House, have courted the sheer euphoria of a perfect honky-tonk pairing. Soup to nuts – Songwriter to Honeydripper, locally – what Mssrs. Jimmy Buffett, Jeff Healey, Willie Nelson, and Gary Clark Jr. bottled (respectively), Delbert McClinton brewed Saturday at Gruene Hall.

Greg Abbott and the Fail Whale
Social media 101: Do not supportively respond to anything that uses the word "retard." Apparently, Attorney General Greg Abbott's media team did not get that message.

Inside Outside Lands
Outside Lands Festival – magical. Set on the polo fields in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, its grounds are nestled under tall trees and a thick fog that separates you from the rest of the city. With temperatures in the mid Sixties, I had to pinch myself to make sure this wasn’t just a mirage from the Austin summer, some heat-induced hallucination.
