If Austin’s newest restaurants battled on a cable makeover show, the loudest gasps would surely be reserved for Italian eatery Juliet. Though the name nods to former building occupant Romeo’s, Juliet has stepped out from behind the curtain with renewed confidence. You go girl.

Austin restaurateur Reed Clemons originated the Warehouse District see-and-be-seen dining scene in the Nineties with his popular restaurants Mezzaluna and the Bitter End. Clemons left Downtown for the suburban success of wine bars in Westlake and Lakeway in the Aughts, but now he's back.

Liberty Kitchen has just started making waves in Austin with a coastal seafood menu and everything-but-the-kitchen-sink dishes like the monster Heisenburg-er. Newly opened in Old West Austin*, the Houston group’s Austin outpost has a laid-back neighborhood feel that is removed from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Austin.

Everybody else is talking about the food, but right now we’re gonna talk a bit about the look of the place. About the gorgeous interior of the restaurant venue itself, about the signage, the whole menus-and-business-cards-and-collateral branding of this dining establishment called VIA 313.

From New York City to London to Milan, and now, to Austin. Today, the ONE Group announced that they are entering the Texas market with STK Rebel in Austin and STK in Dallas. STK Rebel is anticipated to open Downtown next year with a 7,000 square foot restaurant and a 4,000 square foot rooftop deck in the former Melting Pot space (305 E. Third).
