Austin Fashion Week Recommended: Friday, April 25
Eat your Wheaties, grab your wallet, and let us plan your day
By Anne Harris, 9:00AM, Thu. Apr. 24
Start the day at designer Jamie Pope's Liz James Designs showroom and get a new look. Mix with your current jewelry, or create a new ensemble. Meet and speak with Jamie while you work with Amy Maner, a professional stylist known for work in films such as Miss Congeniality, as well as TV series Revolution and From Dusk Till Dawn.
As an added bonus enjoy 15% off your total jewelry purchase. (4407 Bee Caves Rd., 10:30am-2:30pm. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday April 24th). Have a leisurely lunch, because the bubbly is flowing about 2pm at United Apparel Liquidators for their "Champagne & Shopping" event. Survey the hors d'oeuvre and sip on a few while considering a 70%-90% discount on designer duds. You'll also get an additional 10% off of your purchase, and if you're not too loaded, er, down, that is, with new frocks, make sure to pick up a Fashion Week gift bag. Look for the black & white balloons (1111 S. Congress, 2-8pm). Naturally, it's now high time for tea. Hit up the Piece of Pake Adult Tea Time at SoLa (2005 S. Lamar, 3-7pm) to meet and shop local jewelry designer, Pake Stephens, while devouring cupcakes from Sugar Mama's Bake Shop and enjoying 10% off. Meanwhile Estilo (234 W. Second, 6-9pm) will be getting ready for the Rare Trends event, which includes more cocktails, new spring arrivals, and a trunk show with Rare Trends and local jewelry designer Monica Ruiz. Rain or shine, we'll make it to see the leather goods at the Betty Loo Project truck sale at Limbo Jewelry (1604 S. Congress, 7-9pm). The leather goods designer's motto, "Canadian Spirit, Texas Made" sounds intriguing. So do snacks from Chef Matt James, and Tito's Handmade Vodka, which will also be on hand with a Betty Loo-inspired cocktail. We may be feeling a bit woozy at this point, having shopped and tippled, but we not have tippled over, because we are going to the Poolside pop-up at Lincoln Village (6406 N. 1H-35, 8-10pm; RSVP here). This week-long collaborative shop features the work of jewelry designer Stone + Smith, custom perfumer J. Hannah, and the Fair Trade line from Purse & Clutch. There will be more drinking here, so please be clear, the mannequins are living people, so no monkey business.
