SXSW Film Review: Tab Hunter Confidential
Tab Hunter came out to the world 10 years ago. In his autobiography of the same name, he laid it on the line: Hollywood's "Sigh Guy" liked guys. A decade later, the stakes may be less dramatic, his tone less dishy, but the story still sizzles.

SXSW Film Review: Stone Barn Castle
Part beautifully shot upscale renovation porn, part modern-day Downton Abbey, Stone Barn Castle follows actor Adrien Brody as he undertakes the quixotic task of restoring a Gilded Age-era home in upstate New York.

SXSW Film Review: The Damned: Don’t You Wish That We Were Dead
Everyone knows the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and maybe even The Buzzcocks, but get past those seminally codified UK punk acts and The Damned tend to get lost in the safety-pin pogo-shuffle. Thank goodness for director Wes Orshoski’s (Lemmy) blistering, hilarious, and terrifically neat, neat, neat doc.

SXSW Film Review: Sailing a Sinking Sea
The Moken believe their way of life sprung from a curse cast upon them when an island queen caught her husband sleeping with her sister. Their lot is to live as gypsies upon the water, traveling from island to island near Burma and Thailand surviving both off of and like fish.

SXSW Film Review: Moonwalkers
Conspiracy theorists are always there when we need them, hyperbolizing on cable access and web forums, hand-holding us through our bouts of insomnia. And in thanks, we mock them. But what if they’re right? What if Ron Perlman really did fake the moon landing? To be fair, it was pretty kick-ass.

SXSW Film Review: The Boy
The Boy is a title that makes this movie sound innocuous. A more fitting header would be Portrait of the Serial Killer as a Young Boy. It is the first film in a planned trilogy about the growth of a mass murderer.

SXSW Film Review: The Grief of Others
The death of a child is tragic beyond measure. Hollywood has mined this territory before, often with maudlin results, but Patrick Wang’s adaptation of Leah Hager Cohen's novel The Grief of Others takes a more measured approach and is much the better for it.

SXSW Film Review: Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine
Steve Jobs is a mirror reflecting back on our own desires, Alex Gibney tells us in Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine, an overlong but insightful documentary that is of two minds about the late Apple leader whose 2011 death brought worldwide cultural grief rivaling the murder of John Lennon.

SXSW Film Review: Madina’s Dream
A group of children show off their handmade clay figurines adorned with tiny flowers picked nearby, replicas of items they know well: a cooking pot, a horse, an airplane, and a rocket-propelled grenade.
