City gearing up for SXSW
By Wells Dunbar, 1:49PM, Wed. Mar. 2, 2011

Hey guys – we’ll be watching City Council’s Wednesday work session for clues as to how tomorrow’s full meeting goes. You can tune in right now here. But we’ve also got an update on a event from Laura Morrison and Mike Martinez going down tonight.
Morrison and Martinez are sponsoring a “Creative Industries Ambassadors” event tonight. Sez the city:
Austin Creative Industries Ambassador Program: Creative Community to Participate in Open Panel Discussion
On Wednesday, March 2, 2011 Austin’s creative community will participate in an open panel discussion about developing an Austin Creative Industries Ambassador program. The ambassador program will provide local talent opportunities to gain experience and expand their consumer base while promoting Austin on a national and international scale. The discussion will take place at the Gibson Guitar Showroom (3601 South Congress, Ste. G400).
“It is important to understand that local artists and musicians are small, independent businesses of their own,” said Council Member Laura Morrison. “The ambassador program will provide our local talent opportunities to gain experience and expand their consumer base while promoting Austin on a national and international scale.”
You can learn more viewing the Facebook invite here.
What the hell else is happening?
On the city calendar: The Environmental Board meets at City Hall, Council Chambers, 6pm.
