Snoop gets twisted with Willie Nelson & Ghostland
By Austin Powell, 2:49PM, Wed. Apr. 20, 2011
What better way to celebrate 420 than with Snoop Dogg getting twisted with two local institutions – Willie Nelson and Ghostland Observatory?
Snoop Dogg feat. Willie Nelson “Superman”
To promote his recent album, Doggumentary, Snoop Dogg touched up the footage of his guest appearance with Nelson in Amsterdam from a few years back, and threw in a few good tokes as well. Note the credits for the director: “Snoop Scorsese.” He most have been high.
Snoop Dogg feat. Ghostland Observatory “Drop It Like It's Hot”
Red Bull's Soundclash is basically a live mash-up contest, pitting artists on polarized stages with the challenge of finishing the opposing song. Right before South By Southwest, Snoop and Ghostland Observatory went head-to-head in South Padre, with the local electro-glam duo riding dirty on “Drop It Live It's Hot.” Aaron Behrens actually pulls it off pretty well, and the Doggfather had some kind words (at least more than most) to say in return.
White Denim “Drug”
In keeping with this week's theme, here's the latest from White Denim, a sort of kaleidoscopic claymation/mummification of the local quartet, directed by Bobby Weiss, Michael Hammett and Mark Greenwalt.
Daniel Johnston “Rock This Town”
One vintage classic just for good measure.
