For Farmshare Austin and the Austin Food & Wine Alliance, this year really is lucky number seven.

Turntable Eatery, the pizza joint on Airport Blvd., is closing at the end of July after just over a year in business. But the neighborhood won’t go hungry for long: The chicken and burger food truck Cluck-n-Burger will be opening their first brick-and-mortar restaurant in the same space this fall.

As we approach the end of the first week of ATX Black Food Week 2019, we gear up for the beginning of the second week. The event celebrates Austin’s vibrant community of black-owned restaurants, organized by the folks at the Austin Justice Coalition.

On July 23, local Tex-Mex institution El Patio (2938 Guadalupe) announced their last day of business will be August 9, 2019. Paul and MaryAnn Joseph opened the University of Texas area restaurant on January 5, 1954, and it’s now currently operated by their three children, David, Renee, and Roseann.

For the second year running, Dog Restaurant Week is returning to Austin. Co-sponsored by Edible Austin and Tito's Vodka for Dog People, the event – July 22-28 – is a weeklong chance for humans and dogs to unite in their mutual appreciation of delicious nibbles and some outside hang time.
