Valentine’s Dining In Austin: Hello, Is It Three You’re Looking For?

Because we have three for you. Plus two more.

Recommendations, that is. For where to score some sweet and/or savory delights to share with a loved one – or, hell, even to eat by your own romantic (yet solo) self, n’est-ce pas?

Where will you find this sort of thing on Valentine’s Day? At the Kamburis Brothers’ elegant Satellite on Slaughter Lane.

Either way, it’s been our pleasure to tell you where Valentine’s Day came from. And now, though we have even more options wrangled in our regular Food Listings, we’re glad to shout these five recos for where to get food in celebration of this lovers’ holiday:

1) SATELLITE ON SLAUGHTER Let those Kamburis Brothers and their culinary cohort send you out of this world with a three-course prix-fixe in their south-of-the-river eatery, with a Valentine’s Day dine-in menu offering entrees that include a decadent Beef Wellington, pork shank osso buco, lobster rissotto, and that’s not all – in addition to their classic starters of fried calamari, pork belly sliders, butternut squash soup, and – oh, there’s more, and we’ll let them surprise you with the desserts. And a rose for your sweetheart! (While supplies last.) (Supplies of roses, not sweethearts.) Call for reservations now. Sun., Feb. 14, 3:30-9pm. www.satelliteatx.com

2) ICE PICK’S PIES: VALENTINE AF One of our favorite bakers in Austin is offering her scrumptious homemade creations (with free delivery throughout the Austin and Dripping Springs area) at 15% off the entire order – until Fri., Feb. 12, if you use this special code: VDAYPIES. Oh, the fillings! Oh, the crusts! Oh, what that Gabrielle Faust can do with an oven! www.icepickspies.com

3) TREATY OAK DISTILLING And here’s one of our favorite places in Central Texas. Treaty Oak Distilling is celebrating this weekend with two jaw-dropping food events replete with whiskeys and wines at their acclaimed on-site Alice's Restaurant. First, the Steak Pairings Dinner that includes choice Texas ribeyes from 44 Farms and bourbon-chocolate-dipped strawberries. (Fri.-Sat., Feb. 12-13, 5-9pm.) And then, on the actual day of St. Valentine, it's a Sunday Brunch that features grilled quail knots finished with a blackberry ancho demiglaze, a 14-ounce durrack heritage pork tomahawk, lamb chops, and housemade sopapillas, among other fine edibles – and accompanied by pairings of Waterloo Gin. (Sun., Feb. 14, noon-4pm.) No reservations necessary, and, mmmmmmm, it's all right there on the edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country … www.treatyoakdistilling.com

4) MEANWHILE X URBAN JUNGLE X GARBO’S Ah, right in the barley! Meanwhile Brewing Co., which our Eric Puga loves, has teamed up with Urban Jungle (yes, that's Austin's first Black-owned brewery) to create the new Meanwhile in the Jungle quaff made with New Zealand's citrusy Wai-iti hops – and it'll be part of this festive Valentine's afternoon, along with new Meanwhile cocktails, freshly shucked Island Creek oysters from Garbo's food truck, and booty-rockin' tunes from DJ Kick It. Sun., Feb. 14, noon-4pm. www.meanwhilebeer.com

5) MOZART’S COFFEE & DESSERT TASTING Mozart's Coffee Roasters has a fine time planned for the most romantic java fiends in town. "Three courses. Three coffees. Four nights available. All kinds of couples welcome." We reckon you'll enjoy listening to the live music on those lovely lakeside decks while you sip and nibble the sumptuous noms – and you'll leave with a special gift from Mozart's, too. BONUS: Psssst, listen – The Roosevelt Room, that posh bar in Downtown Austin, will be pouring complimentary bubbles for couples on Sun., Feb. 14. www.therooseveltroomatx.com
