Winners to be announced on Wednesday, February 11 at BookPeople at 7pm The winners of the Seventeenth Annual Austin Chronicle Short Story contest will be announced at BookPeople at 7pm on Wednesday, February 11. You are invited to hear the first-, second-, and third- place winners read their short stories at the special reception. Honorable mentions will also be announced. Refreshments and light hors d'oeuvres will be served. In 2008, over 475 people submitted their short story for consideration, and five people will be recognized for their work. All the manuscripts submitted were the original work of the contestant and have never before been published. The first-place winner's story will be published in the February 13, 2009 issue of The Austin Chronicle. 1st Place - $800 2nd Place - $350 3rd Place - $250
