Dear Editor,
Re: “
Naked If I Want To” [Music, Jan. 8]: Louis Black should not apologize for focusing on Moby Grape's first album as it is the only one most people remember, including me, and I was paying attention. Nor should he apologize for the length of his article or its placement as the cover story. Although this article lacks the usual personal feel of “Page Two,” recounting the album's place in rock music history is still best done by a reviewer like Louis, who understands the participatory as well as the communal nature of popular culture in general. In my view, this article is the kind of timeless commentary the
Chronicle was made for.
