From Hooves to Claws: The Nail Dilemma

Current nail art sometimes makes a statement confusing

I am torn when it comes to how I like to wear my nails. Most days I think acrylics look hella trashy: The next day, I’m craving a fresh pair of French tips. Yes, they’re terrible for your nails. But, pain is beauty…as well as stinky, plastic, fake-ass goodness.

When I recently managed to visit a state not touching Texas, the most mind-blowing sight in New York was seeing duck-tips for the first time. They’re big, voluptuous, and wide. Snooky has been rockin’ this look in her mission to positively influence our youth on the current season of The Jersey Shore. I almost like them. The ghetto-fab/Guidette in me is as intrigued by duck-tip nails as I am with looking at pictures of local drag queens at 3am (Facebook stalking at its finest). There are also bubble nails, water bubble nails (reportedly from Puerto Rico), crazy-intricate Japanese-art nails, acrylic nails with moving beads … whoa. Here are some of my favorites, ever-impractical or not.

A recent glimpse of Snooky's hands on the job.
