2016 Austin Film Festival Spotlights

AFF has some big names, but never loses sight of its hometown

2016 Austin Film Festival Spotlights

In what we here at the Chronicle dub the "fall festival convergence," aka overtime, it can get a bit overwhelming hopping from aGLIFF and Fantastic Fest to Austin City Limits and beyond. And now we have arrived at one of the highlights of the season with the Austin Film Festival. Long dubbed the "Writers Festival," AFF focuses on the craft of storytelling, with panels and conversations featuring some of the most creative and innovative minds working today. But what it also does, arguably better than other film festivals, is highlight the local talent here in Austin. And while we've put a spotlight on a few films with a local angle, we don't have the space here to document them all. Which is why you should visit austinchronicle.com/austin-film-festival for more picks and all of the reviews and recaps throughout the week.

The Austin Film Festival runs Thu., Oct. 13, through Thu., Oct. 20, at various venues in town. Passes start at $75 and move up from there, but single tickets will be available at the theatres, space permitting. Head over to www.austinfilmfestival.com for the full schedule and to secure your attendance.
