A Separate Peace

From the department of never thought you'd see that happen: On Friday, Texas Civil Rights Project Director Jim Harrington praised Travis County Sheriff Margo Frasier on her decision to pull the TCSO out of the Capital Area Narcotics Task Force. "This is long overdue, and should never have been undertaken in the first place," Harrington said in a press release. It was a rare compliment from Harrington, who has been highly critical of Frasier and the Task Force's operations, and currently has a lawsuit against the TCSO pending in federal court, stemming from a Task Force raid at the home of Hazy Hills resident Sandy Smith. Last May, officers descended on Smith's rural property claiming that she was growing "marijuana" and held her and two others at gunpoint while they ransacked her home (without a warrant). The reefer in question, it turned out, was ragweed.
