Five Local Favorites That Fit the Bill

South by Southwest 2001 is upon us, and we're up in it. Currently hovering around 900 confirmed musical acts, SXSW adds and drops more daily, and here at the Chronicle, the Music staff scrambles to write more "Picks & Sleepers," SXSW record reviews, and get interviews with the conference's featured acts. There are only more showcases, more deadlines, and more writing. As happens every spring, the Music section's SXSW coverage begins with the Chronicle's annual "Picks to Click," Austin acts playing the music festival who deserve the same sort of attention all those national headliners get.
