There will be students from across the country running around in circles and jumping long and high and often. At night people come out in droves and fill up Sixth Street enough to make SXSW crowds look like a stroll in the woods. (Not really, but kinda.)

The current show, "Lines Composed During a Tour," featuring works by Sara Vanderbeek, Andy Coolquitt, Kristi Kongi, and Erin Curtis, and curated by Gaulager and Leslie Moody Castro, closes on Sat., March 30. Next up is Anika Cartterfield's "Grounded in Culver," which is opening on Sat., March 30, 5pm in the alternate Co-Lab venue at 5419 Glissman. And then, on April 6 – well, we'll be telling you about that soon enough. Shit is getting more real again; let's celebrate.

Jesús I. Valles and Bonica Ayala have teamed up as director/producer duo to bring you a "powerhouse" comedy show: starring Linzy Beltran (of Jazz Kween and 2017 B. Iden Payne: award-winning Latinauts) and Kim Tran (of Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls and 2018 B. Iden Payne award-winning Y'all, We Asian). Expect a mix of multimedia and live performances digging into and digging on race, sexuality, body positivity, motherhood, and pop culture.

In this new, full-length work, Ballet Austin's Stephen Mills explores the dark underpinnings of fairytales to bring you the odd and vivid beauty of the lessons they impart, the social contexts they inform. Inspired by the visual art of Natalie Frank, with music composed (and performed live!) by Graham Reynolds, the world premiere of Grimm Tales will leave you unsettled, unafraid, and undeniably hungry for more.

Dozens of local, regional, and even international brass bands marauding through some of Austin finest parks filled with families, students, and Austin musicians might as well be called Pied Piper Fest for its loyalty among homegrown music freaks. Totally free and unfailingly funky, it’s only weird in that it doesn’t occur in every city from here to Manitoba. Ascending ATX crew Big Wy’s Brass Band – led by Chronicle senior ad rep Jerald Corder’s son Wyatt – can already be considered HONK!TX veterans.: “Our first honk experience was in 2015, when we were still seniors in high school and played at the Snack Bar on South Congress and in Pan Am Park as well,” writes in Wyatt. “We didn’t know what we were getting into, since we had never played a festival before, let alone a hippie DIY brass band festival. It was a real culture shock to how quirky people can be.”: Brass bands, too, seeing as Big Wy’s horn blowers were soon covering Dr. Dre classic “The Next Episode” for a small throng at Saturday’s main attraction in Adams Park (out back of Spider House), where crews round robin all the grass corners.: “I love hip-hop and rap, and have always tried to integrate that influence into Big Wy’s,” explains the trumpet-bearing bandleader. “HONK!TX is really special because every band is comprised of people that are playing music just for the love of it, and all of the volunteers working it are really down-to-earth people that are happy to help. I’d say for the first-time attendee to keep an open mind and mix and mingle with some of the most wackiest and genuine people in the world.”

Here's one final exhibition for Recspec's current digs, before the whole Flatbed complex is shut down and everyone scatters to, like, the four winds. So they're having several of the best local artists who've shown at the gallery return to cover every wall in the place with their connecting artwork. Featuring work by Tim Kerr, Annie Alonzi, Thor Harris, Alanna Loosen, Lance McMahan, Lindsay Eyth, Mike Combs, Polly Morwood, Annalise Gratovich, Katie Cowden, and many more.

India Fine Arts presents a performance of ballet vignettes from Indian epics, featuring Shiijit Nambiar and Parvathy Menon.

Local authors read their best short-short fictions aloud outside the lovely Ney Museum, with that Mary Helen Specht leading the ceremonies. Bonus: local publishers, food trucks, and face-painting.

See the likes of Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and Ginger Rogers return to life in a backdrop of tap-dancing Hollywood classics, as well as contemporary choreography set to the jazz standards of Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin, and others.

Oh holy shit – stop the presses! This presentation of the 2019 UT New Theatre program is written by Hannah Kenah, which fact suggests that, if you were gonna see just one of these UTNT shows, then this new Kenah work is the one to attend. Oh, and the "disheveled comedy" is "an homage to Our Town's theatrical examinations of life and afterlife" and is directed by Mason Rosenthal.

The Scribners return – and we're almost ready for them. We mean, the eerie magical-realist beauty that this husband-and-wife team render by way of figurative art is so powerful it's difficult to prepare for, but, by the hoary mane of Sleipnir, we're gonna attempt it. Highly recommended.
