Any UT-Austin Department of Theatre & Dance production not mounted in the Payne Theatre typically gets staged in this 244-seat venue named in honor of the late, great theatre historian – arguably the world’s foremost authority on the dramatic arts – who spent 27 years at the university, during which he also served as Dean of the College of Fine Arts. The Brockett is most often set up in a thrust configuration, with audiences spread around the floor-level stage on three sides, but it’s flexible enough to be moved into a variety of stage and seating arrangements.
