What Kind of Reception Is This?

The senator from New York releases her delegates, but where are the sandwiches?

Hillary delegates from around the country were invited to a reception at the Colorado Convention Center with Senator Clinton. Those who were interesting in attending filled out a short form on the Internet and then printed a ticket online. I had my ticket. You never know when it will be the last time you'll get to see the senator up close.

When I arrived at the convention center

hall, the length of the line to get into Hillary's reception had nearly 1,500 people waiting. Some patiently. Some not so patient. I was able to get a prime spot near the stairs that led to the reception hall.

It turns out that this was no reception at all. In fact, it was déjà vu for all of us who had attended a political rally during the primary season. Before the doors opened to the reception hall, a very familiar soundtrack of approved Hillary campaign music began blaring through the speakers. Inside the hall there wasn't a drink or sandwich to be found. Guess I'd have to eat later.

Nearly 2,000 people filled the room along with the press. I was at stage left with several other Texans who supported Senator Clinton's bid for the presidency.

She was introduced on stage by a Texas volunteer and breast cancer survivor. Hillary released us as delegates during her speech – as a formality, only. Earlier yesterday morning, Hillary retained all of her Texas delegates and superdelegates.

After unsuccessfully attempting to get my delegate autograph signed by Senator Clinton, it was time to head to the Pepsi Center.
