No One Said It Was the Wholesome Street Fair

Folsom Street poster has church panties in wad.

This weekend is San Franfrisky's legendary Folsom Street Fair, a kind of Renaissance Faire for kinky folks. Held anually, this event turns the historic Folsom Street – once the home of leather bar giants: The Tool Box, the Catacombs, and the original Rainbow Cattle Company – into a mass of sweaty, S/M queers. Well, even more so than usual.

The poster design for this year's fair, features a pretty hot leather recreation of Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper. And of course, there's controversy. The Catholic News Agency and Concerned Women for America are all panty-wadded in their own didactic version of one-point perspective.

In response – and perhaps in perfect resonance with DaVinci's exquisite capture of the moment Christ informed his disciples of the intent of one of them to betray him – Miller has dropped sponsorship of the world's largest leather event... and in essence, dropped support for Folsom's real bottom line.

As Dan Savage points out, we wonder if Miller, and the outraged groups for that matter, take such pointed umbrage with other potentially sacrilegious depictions.
