Officer who shot Nathaniel Sanders gets job back
By Jordan Smith, 11:58AM, Thu. Oct. 21, 2010
Leonardo Quintana, the officer who shot and killed Nathaniel Sanders II in May 2009, has been given his job back.
Quintana was fired not for any infraction related to the shooting (he got a 15-day suspension for failing to activate his in-car video camera during the deadly incident), but was instead terminated after he was popped for drunk driving in January. He appealed his termination to an independent arbitrator who this week opined that his termination was an inappropriate discipline.
More on all of this later. For now, download arbitrator Louise Wolitz's decision here, or view below. Quintana Arbitration Doc
