Vassallo Sails Away

Longtime Chief of Staff exits city

The Vassallong goodbye
The Vassallong goodbye

Amidst all the electoral hubbub, we barely caught this announcement: chief of staff under Kirk Watson and Toby Futrell, Kristen Vassallo has packed her things and is leaving City Hall. CM Marc Ott's email to staff reads:

"This notice is to inform you of the resignation of one of our valued executive team members, Chief of Staff Kristen Vassallo. Ms. Vassallo’s resignation will be effective May 2, 2008.

During the ten years of Ms. Vassallo’s tenure with the City, she has been a leader in facing remarkable changes within our community, including our 50% population increase and two economic booms and one bust. Throughout everything, Kristen kept keeping Austin unique and sustainable at the fore-front of everything she did.

Please join me in wishing Kristen all the best in her future endeavors and thanking her for contributions to our team and our city."

Not a terribly surprising move, but a sign the power structure at City Hall continues to shift.
