Affordability's in the Eye of the Beholder
Take a peek at the Affordable Housing Incentives Task Force's recommendations.

The Affordable Housing Incentives Task Force isn't appearing before City Council until tomorrow, but you can get a jump start on 'em by checking out their presentation here. You can also peruse their full report.
As of this reading, we're agnostic on their findings. Nothing more affordable than 80% median family income Downtown doesn't exactly jibe with the group's lofty (or is that loft?) goals of "deep affordability." The 60% MFI requirements for multifamily zoning cut a little deeper, but when you consider "affordable" rent for one at that level comes to $746, it still smarts. Similarly, recommendations that SMART Housing residents increase their rent allowance an additional 5% (from 30 to 35% of of their total income) also chafes.
The AHITF presentation is at 10:30am tomorrow.
