Fun Fun Fun Live Shot: 2 Chainz
Atlanta MC turnts a throng

When 2 Chainz hits Nice Kicks on Guadalupe, he draws a line of fans and sneaker junkies around the building. Though the Georgia fast talker’s been flirting with shoe fashion and comfort food cook books, Friday night at Fun Fun Fun Fest he reminded the Blue stage exactly how he earned those chains.

From the end of Minneapolis duo Atmosphere until the first bars of opening chant “Fork,” the crowd tensed, pushing forward. A teenager complained to his friend about their spot near the middle of the crowd.
“You should’ve skipped school,” he berated his friend.
Chains glittering in the purple light, 2 Chainz preached “All Me” from Drake’s introspective Nothing Was the Same, and torched his part of Kamp’s “Cut Her Off.”
“I’m from Atlanta, Georgia, and the best thing about Georgia is we got the best strip clubs,” the MC shouted gleefully, breaking into “I Luv Dem Strippers” from 2012’s Based on a T.R.U. Story.
Kids from the suburbs jumped, hands waving frantically.
“Ya’ll turnt yet?” he inquired. “I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to be in Texas, period. New album on the way – top of the year. Gotta stay consistent.”
2 Chainz shook his dreads on “Birthday Song,” begging for a “big booty ho,” and reminisced with “Used To.” The infectious beats on rallying cry “I’m Different” had heads banging and hands up. The heavy bass of closer “No Lie” left a shivering crowd in his wake.
