ACL Live Review: Camila Cabello
Appearing on Sunday at dusk like a resurrected Selena from Miami, Camila Cabello revealed a teenage emo soul while paying tribute to her Cuban roots.

ACL Live Review: The Revolution
In the days leading up to their set at the Tito’s stage on Sunday, many didn’t realize that the Revolution listed on the bill was Prince’s prime backing unit. “I thought that was just some new indie band,” came the refrain time and again over the weekend. Seeing the sheer numbers crammed inside ACL’s quonset-like hut at 6pm, word must have gotten out.

ACL Live Review: Janelle Monáe
“Women are to be respected,” proclaimed the leader. Dressed as a funky commandant from a (one could only hope) feminist near-future, singer/actress Janelle Monáe destroyed her 4pm Sunday mandate at the American Express stage.

ACL Live Review: Khruangbin
Boasting two stunning albums since 2015, Houston’s Khruangbin mines Sixties psychedelic funk grooves from around the globe. When the trio took the stage inside a packed Tito’s tent late Sunday afternoon, the only question remaining was how their languid, instrumental shoegaze funk would translate to a festival setting.

ACL Live Review: Amen Dunes
Amen Dunes, born Damon McMahon, doesn’t do choruses, but he’s created a sleeper dance LP full of dreamy, synth-laden folk and surf on his fifth album, Freedom, which he and his band performed almost in its entirety early Sunday afternoon.

ACL Live Review: The Nude Party
Psychedelic surf rock licks kicking off the Nude Party’s early-afternoon set Sunday on the BMI stage are about the last thing you’d expect rolling out of the Appalachian mountains of Boone, N.C., but the sextet’s laid-back, throwback vibe plotted perfectly in setting up ACL’s first weekend final day.

ACL Live Review: Shame
“Fuckin’ hell it’s hot out t’day,” ventured Charlie Steen, squinting into Sunday’s noonday sun. Later, the Shame vocalist added, “We’re English. We’re not used to the sunshine.”

ACL Live Review: Neighbor Lady
Although now based in Atlanta, Sunday 11:30am act Neighbor Lady originated in Athens, Ga. Opening up the petite BMI stage, they certainly sounded the part.

ACL Live Review: Metallica
As revolutionary an ACL booking as Kendrick Lamar in 2013, Metallica on the mainstage Saturday – following Paul McCartney in the same slot Friday – crossed over, but singularly so perhaps. As EDM fades at the fest and Lamar opened the door to hip-hop, you can lay odds Megadeth won’t follow up Metallica next year in Zilker Park.
