As you may have heard, there are a couple major anniversaries going on here in Austin. SXSW is 25 and the Austin Chronicle is 30. These are amazing accomplishments for many people, some of whom are starting to feel a little old (maybe).

Tuesday was a pretty good night for the Foo Fighters. First their new documentary Foo Fighters: Back and Forth got its world premiere at a packed Paramount, and then they joined the list of arena bands to have played totally unsecret secret SXSW shows at Stubb's.

For those looking for a quick pick-me-up the Tuesday of SXSW week, Gary Lucas scoring the Spanish language version of Dracula in a church was sort of the antithesis. It was meditation. The acclaimed guitarist has worked with Captain Beefheart, Jeff Buckley, and Lou Reed. He's an academic, familiar with the secret hallways of his instrument.
