Frustrated Farmers Jailed
Members of the Hemp Industries Association and two aspiring hemp farmers were arrested this morning for digging up the lawn at the Virginia headquarters of the Drug Enforcement Administration where the group was trying to plant industrial hemp seeds.

The National Equality March: A Recap
For decades, Thornton Wilder’s Our Town has been the most produced play in the country. The play spoke of the commonality across small town America and the shared experiences of average Americana. From small towns and large, an estimated 150,000 to 200,000 supporters of GLBT rights arrived this past weekend, in our nation’s capitol.

School Jam USA Is On!
SchoolJam Texas has gone national, and School Jam USA 2009 is taking entries. Bands with members age 13-18 compete in five regions to play 10 slots in Anaheim at the NAMM show, January 2010. The winner goes to Europe for SchoolJam Germany, as the Carson Brock Group did last year, and is eligible for prizes for the band as well as the band’s school music program.

Allen Named Interim CEO of Cap Met
To no one's surprise, the Capital Metro Board of Directors today appointed Doug Allen to be interim CEO and president of the transit agency. Allen is currently executive vice president and chief development officer, and has been the point man on recent efforts to get MetroRail up and running. Press release from Cap Metro after the jump:

It’s been seven years since I hung around with Rusty Wier for a story. I also saw his legendary Saxon Thanksgiving shows but those had ended in 2007 when the cancer made it too difficult for him. That was when it was clear Rusty wasn’t going to win this battle.
