All Grown Up

Let's eat!

Images of Mom range from the saintly Madonna figure to the on-the-go career mom juggling the demands of work and kids. Some of my most lasting lessons learned from mom were in the kitchen. So I was tickled when the Food Network (cable channel 67) was offering up a Mother's Day lineup called "Sweet on Mom," featuring some of the network's most popular chefs with their first culinary inspiration, their moms. Here's the schedule at press time:

noon: Chef Emeril Lagasse welcomes his mother Hilda to Emeril Live, one of the most popular shows on the network.

1pm: The charming Ming Tsai welcomes his mom to his show, East Meets West. She'll be making up a mess of Ming's favorite, dumplings.

1:30pm: Too Hot Tamales co-host Mary Sue Milliken brings her son Declan to the show.

2pm: Grill chef Bobby Flay's mom Dorothy will dish up tales of Bobby's boyhood obsession with his Easy Bake Oven on Hot Off the Grill.

2:30pm: Mother Laura joins her bouncing baby boy Curtis Aikens on Pick of the Day to cook up some sumptuous summer squash. Ooooeee! You know that be some good eatin'.
