City Council meets today, March 3, with a relatively short, 44-Item agenda that includes: redirecting water utility fees for the Pilot Knob planned unit development; directing the city manager to do a "comprehensive review" of the city's music scene; reappointing Philip P. Huang as the health authority for the Health & Human Services department; and second and third readings of amendments to the small lot amnesty ordinance. See "Council," Mar. 4.

The Obamas are coming to South by Southwest. On Wednesday, news broke that President Barack will conduct a SXSW Interactive keynote conversation on Friday, March 11. First Lady Michelle follows him up five days later, giving the opening keynote to SXSW Music on Wed., March 16.

Conspiracy theorist Robert Morrow, who bombarded local journalists for years with emails with subjects like "Lyndon Johnson Murder Conference" and called Rick Perry "a rampaging bisexual adulterer," is the new chair of the Travis County Republican Party. Vice chair Matt Mackowiak is already trying to get him removed.

Robert Chody, the former APD cop who won the lottery, settled a pricey brutality lawsuit, then went on to become Precinct 1 Constable in Williamson County, won Tuesday's GOP nomination for Williamson County Sheriff. Chody, who also organized last September's Police Lives Matter rally, is almost sure to win November's general.

Colton Turner: Last week Michael Turner, the boyfriend of Meagan Work, pleaded guilty in exchange for a 20-year sentence in connection with the death of Work's son Colton. Turner admitted to burying the 2-year-old in a shallow grave in Southeast Austin in 2014.
