Beer Bust!
'D&C' 10-Year Reunion Party
By Kimberley Jones, Fri., May 30, 2003

The Austin Film Society and the Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Dazed and Confused with an outdoor screening and keg party on Saturday, May 31, at the Moon Tower (at Lake Walter E. Long), the site of the film's legendary beer bust. General admission tickets ($25 for AFS members and $30 for nonmembers) are still available at www.drafthouse.com. Gates open at 5pm, with beer and edibles available for purchase (supplied by the Alamo Drafthouse). Commemorative T-shirts and beach towels will also be on sale. Revelers can rock out to the Seventies sounds of an Austin supergroup of sorts, featuring Larry Seaman (Violet Crown), Mike Reynolds (Violet Crown), Doug Koeppe (the Sleepwalkers), and Geoff Lasch (the Golden Apples); guest musicians include Davey Jones (ex-Hickoids), Steve Collier (the Sidehackers), Melissa Mullins (Significant Digits), and Kevin McCarthy (Melodyboy). The band will perform songs from the Dazed and Confused soundtrack.
The screening starts at 8:30pm, followed by a Q&A with director Richard Linklater and appearances by some of the original cast members. The tentative list (as always, subject to change) of those in attendance includes: Matthew McConaughey (Wooderson), Jason London (Pink), Joey Lauren Adams (Simone), Rory Cochrane (Slater), Parker Posey (Darla), Deena Martin (Shavonne), Sasha Jenson (Don), Christin Hinojosa (Sabrina), Michelle Burke-Thomas (Jodi), Nicky Katt (Clint), Wiley Wiggins (Mitch), Esteban Powell (Carl), Jeremy Fox (Hirshfelder), Mark Vandermeulen (Tommy), and Catherine Avril Morris (Julie).
