Where the Girls Go/ATX: PRIDE Edition

The weekend's best glitter- and rainbow-covered Pride events

Ya know that saying, "Christmas only comes once a year?" Well, in Austin, we get two. Two Gay Christmases that is, and it's one of our city's most magical of merits. From June's nonconformist QueerBomb, to this weekend's more traditional Pride, there's more than enough gay celebrations for any and all. But don't take my word for it. Go out there and live it up.

Friday: Warm yourself up tonight with a song – or several. Lizzy Caroloke is back and offering up the "queerest karaoke" this side of the Colorado River. Why Friday, you ask? It's the Pride edition, bb.

Suggestion: Remember, Pride weekend is a marathon not a sprint. Stretch first.

Saturday: There are SO.MANY.OPTIONS for the queer grrrl contingent tonight. Of course we've got the festival if ya feel like day trippin' to Fiesta Gardens, and the parade starts parading at 8pm (look for the Gay Placers!), but the parties really start after the procession ends.

Option 1: Post-pride goes classic with Susan Arbuckle. The songstress will be hosting the Rusty's reunion, somewhere, just over the rainbow.

Option 2: Those cheeky ladies of Lesbutante & the Boss are triple fisting their after-party at Chicago House, Upstairs on Trinity, and Vinyl for all you VIPers. That's what we call a Pride party trifecta.

Option 3: Cheer Ups goes CHER Up tonight for a queertacular event with GirlFriend, MouthFeel, Rupaul's MILK, Big Dipper, Louisianna Purchase, Kitty Buick, and more queer broads than you can flip your hair at.

Suggestion: Whether it's glitter, fishnets, rainbows, suspenders, booty shorts, or lamé – dress to impress (yourself). And get that number for Lyft/Uber in your speed dial. Save the driving for daylight hours.

Sunday: If you’re still riding the weekend high, blow the rest of your steam tonight at Rain Live. Cheap well drinks plus queertastic bands – Grape St. and Night Drive – equals going out with a bae...err, bang.

Suggestion: Keep that Pride spirit going all night long! The Monday hangover will be well worth it.

Get all your Pride needs at the Gay Place, and don't forget to come find us – Where The Girls Go – at our #WCW party Wednesday night at CUC.
