Sarah's Party and Ararat's Mid-East Fusion light up the weekend with fundraising and fire dancing

Central Texas farmers, chefs, and artisan food and beverage producers invite you to enjoy an outpouring of early summer bounty to benefit their friend and Hairston Creek Farm co-owner Sarah Rowland tonight at the Barr Mansion (10463 Sprinkle Rd., 926-6907). The fabulous tasting event will include dishes created by chefs from Wink, Asti, Fino, 34th Street Cafe, Blue Star Cafeteria, Cissi's Market, Tèo Espresso, Mars, Aquarelle, Thai Fresh, Leaning Pear Cafe, Rather Sweet Bakery, Miles of Chocolate, Fête Accompli Catering, TRIO at the Four Seasons, and the Lake Austin Spa Resort, many of them made with produce donated by area farmers. Look for beverages from Barefoot Botanicals, Maine Root, Treaty Oak Rum, Katz Coffee, Saint Arnold Brewing Co., Live Oak Brewing Co., Richard's Rainwater, and Nile Valley Herbs. The evening will be enhanced by live local music, and guests will have the opportunity to bid on silent-auction items such as dinner packages, gift certificates, and cookbooks. Donations begin at $20. More info at www.austinfarm.org/rowland. Thursday, May 29, 7pm.

Those wacky party girls from Ararat are hosting an evening of Mid-East Fusion at Hot Mama's Espresso Bar (2401 E. Sixth, 476-MAMA) this weekend. Festivities will include an artist's bazaar with henna tattoos, Indian jewels, intuitive readings, Turkish Ebru art, face painting, music from Eclectic Electric World Beats with a belly-dance show, a hookah lounge, and a community drum and hula-hoop circle. Arawraps and Hot Mama's beverages will be served. $10 adults, sliding scale for kids. Saturday, May 31, 7-11pm.
