Bubba & Babe's Backwoods Texas Wedding
By Virginia B. Wood, Fri., Nov. 9, 2007
Considering that Patsy's Cowgirl Cafe (5001 E. Ben White, 444-2020) is the brainchild of Esther's Follies founders Shannon Sedwick and Michael Shelton, the fact that there is now a musical-comedy presentation on the menu should come as no surprise. For the next five Wednesday evenings, a cast of talented local professionals will present an interactive musical production with a down-home flavor designed to match Patsy's savory Texas-roadhouse comfort food. Bubba and Babe have to get married in a hurry, and they're strapped for cash, so their rehearsal dinner, bachelor and bachelorette parties, wedding ceremony, and reception are all wrapped up in one hilarious shootin' match. The cast features members of Esther's Follies as well as some of Patsy's waitstaff representing the bride and groom along with a few of their quirkier family members. Customers and a few surprise "ringers" in the crowd will be guests at all the wedding festivities. Dinner will include appetizers, soup or salad, a choice of one of three popular Patsy's entrées (meatloaf, pecan chicken breast, or portobello mushroom) plus mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables, and dessert. Musical numbers in genres ranging from C&W to rock to the parody songs for which Esther's is so famous will be served up with each course. Full bar service will be available. The doors open at 7pm, and the show begins at 7:30pm. Advance tickets are $40 per person or $75 per couple, with special rates for groups; reservations are recommended.
