Lt. Gov. Patrick Predicts It

RECEIVED Tue., May 12, 2020

Dear Editor,
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is one smart cookie.
As he was recently pontificating on “Official State TV” (aka Fox News) w/ Mr. Hannity, he bragged that he has “been around the block” and now felt “vindicated” by his predictions of what the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic could be. Apparently, he was the only person astute enough in the Abbott administration to realize that if you required nonessential businesses to close, cancel all sporting events – indoor and out – along with numerous and varied festivals, and thus put a whole lot of people out of work, well guess what? There are going to be serious economic and societal repercussions!
Wow – who would have thought such events would be the result? How insightful of our Lt. Gov. He knew most folks would never anticipate such dire consequences and he proudly told Sean that he “was right on this.”
More revelation from Mr. Patrick – if shops are closed, they don’t make sales. If they don’t make sales, they don’t collect sales tax. Did you know that? Dan did, by golly. He also pointed out that when individuals lose their jobs, they just don’t spend the way they did when they were employed. Who else but Dan Patrick could have arrived at such a conclusion?
How fortunate we are to have such a leader to explain these complicated matters to the good, but ignorant (apparently) residents of Texas.
