Irresponsible Allegation

RECEIVED Fri., Feb. 24, 2017

Dear Editor,
In his reply to my letter [“For the Record,” Feedback, Feb. 24], Michael King falsely states, again without calling me, that "Lewis apparently has made no attempt to 'call' or otherwise speak with Medical School or Central Health personnel, while widely disseminating his inflammatory and irresponsible charges that they are misappropriating Central Health funds and violating state law." I have talked over the last six months to numerous Central Health board members and representatives as well as Medical School personnel about my concerns. I am more than happy to talk to others, although Central Health and UT have been circulating this false rumor for weeks which you fell for. As for the irresponsible allegation by you as a non-lawyer against my position, many lawyers and other experts believe what UT has done is illegal. Challenge your assumptions.
Fred Lewis
[Michael King responds: I am delighted to learn that Fred Lewis has spoken with Medical School and Central Health personnel (who circulated no rumors to me), although no evidence of those discussions has been reflected in his two tendentious, prosecutorial briefs on the subject. Perhaps his inevitable next effusion will address these omissions, as a simple courtesy if not a legal obligation. Thus far, headline repetitions of his allegations have been entirely unpersuasive.]
