Officer Drives Away Visitors

RECEIVED Wed., July 28, 2010

Dear Editor,
I was a victim of highway robbery in your city. This happened when my wife and I chose to spend our 25th anniversary in Austin. Driving in on I-35, an Austin police officer was following us quite closely. I changed lanes to the right to allow the officer to go by. When the officer changed lanes at the same time, he pulled me over and falsely charged me with changing lanes without signaling and cutting him off. His attitude was incredibly snide. I left your city with a $167 ticket. I have no other traffic violations for this. Why didn't he issue a warning? Why wasn't he courteous to visitors to your city? Because of this officer, we will choose not to visit your city in the future and will suggest the same to everyone we know.
