Now Streaming in Austin: The Devil's Candy
Ethan Embry + Satan + Sunn O))) = tonight's live-tweet
By Richard Whittaker, 2:00PM, Thu. May 21, 2020
Welcome to Now Streaming in Austin, highlighting locally made titles to watch while self-quarantining.
Like metal? Like horror? Like tweeting along to streaming movies? Well, have we got your night sorted out.
Last week we picked Richard Linklater's musical comedy The School of Rock for our weekly live-tweet: Tonight, we pull out the flying V and the power chords for cult classic Austin horror The Devil's Candy. Starring Ethan Embry as a struggling artist taking on Satan, it's a mixture of terror, family drama, bizarre canvases, and a crank-up-the-volume soundtrack.
This was a real labor of love for Embry, who dropped 50 pounds to play a character he described as "looking like an older Kurt Cobain" (read more about that here), and it pays off in one of the most popular Austin titles to ever play at Fantastic Fest.
Here's the line-up: Tonight, Thursday, May 21, at 8pm Central, join Chronicle screens editor Richard Whittaker on twitter @YorkshireTX, or Follow along using the hashtags

Or just follow along on this thread.
We'll have fun facts, weird observations, and we'll sure as hell be rocking out to one of the best metal soundtracks of the past few years.
