NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams throws a spotlight on Austin's Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive-In tonight.
Austinites already know what a good thing they've got with the Blue Starlite Drive-In. Josh Frank founded the small-scale, citified reimagining of the drive-in two years ago, leaning hard on the retro vibe, while tweaking the concept with new technology, and this summer he moved the operation into a sweet spot at Austin Studios.
NBC Nightly News apparently caught wind of the idea and recently sent a crew down to document a night at the Blue Starlite. The segment airs tonight; broadcast begins locally at 5:30pm.
As for the Drive-In, it's business as usual: This weekend's shows include today's double feature of Lone Star and Haunted House and Saturday's oilman-classic Giant.
