Where the Girls Go/ATX: Calm Before the Storm

My top picks to find the queer grrrls of ATX this weekend

Ladies, bois, grrrls, queers of all stripes, the countdown to happy hour is in place. So let's talk about the weekend. Might be a bit quieter out there over the next few days. Call it the calm before the storm, because SXSW is about to blow in and kick all of our bottoms. (Speaking of which, we’re going to focus on them on Sunday… Waaait for it).

Here are this weekend’s best bets for finding the notorious grrrls of ATX.

Tonight: Girls with Gunz at Cheer Up Charlie's. This seems fairly obvious: it’s a Girlfriend event, Cap’n Tits is DJing, and it’s girl on girl arm wrestling. Where else would the girls be? Plus the $5 door price benefits SafePlace (a local non-profit working to end sexual and domestic violence). Hosts Ursula Lucadevjic and Arcie Cola say they're ready to "get freaky." Are you?

Suggestion: Do some push-ups before you leave your house and a shot when you get to the bar. That way you’ll look ready and feel it too #liquidcourage.

Saturday: Believe RED, think RED, be RED. AIDS Services of Austin is hosting their annual Viva RED. It’s a pricey ticket but if you have it, it's worth it. Drinks will be flowing, “culinary delights” will be served, and Rebecca Havemeyer will be performing in all her glory. Not to mention all the proceeds go towards ASA’s Capital Area AIDS Legal Project. White Ghost Shivers and Natyalaya School of Dance will also be performing. Clearly it’s more than a queer grrrl event but everyone’s doing their part to in the fight against AIDS.

Suggestion: Wear red – try a dapper bowtie in candy apple or that new lipstick so many of us femmes are obsessed with.

Sunday: Here’s where we talk about bottoms. And by that we mean, an–….well, you know what I mean. Curious? This discussion, hosted by Q Toys, might shed some light on a new area (or confirm what you already suspected).

Suggestion: href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1b/Let%27s_talk_about_sex!.jpg" target="_blank">Queer grrrls use it too. Just remember the lube.

That's it for now, see you lovers next week! Same time, same place.

Correction: originally we said Anal Pleasure for Every Body was at The Q – it's not. It's happening over at Q TOYS 6800 Burnet Rd.
