Now We're Talking: Andy Bell at Austin Pride

Austin Pride has announced its 2013 headliner

I'm so in love with you! I'll be forever blue!
I'm so in love with you! I'll be forever blue!

Can't lie. We're a bit beside ourselves. Erasure's Andy Bell has been announced as this year's headliner at Austin Pride.

The elegant and earnest Erasure lead singer will appear solo at Fiesta Gardens.

Every year booked by the current Austin Pride crew – specifically, board member and entertainment chair Nathan Garcia – has brought pleasant, left-hooky surprises in the caliber of talent at Pride (Peaches in 2012 and Leslie & the Lys in 2011) to the human-scaled sweetness of the small concrete Fiesta Gardens stage.

Personally, we've never been in the anti-Fiesta Gardens camp and frankly don't understand the hubbub. Yes, we dig you want to feel fancy, dear Austin gays. But seriously, may we, just for a moment, stop and appreciate the significance of having such an intimate venue for someone like Andy Bell?

Come Saturday, September 7, 2013, I want to see that adorable man's vocal cords. That's all I'm sayin'.

Tickets are available now.

Here's some footage we shot of a pirouetting Mr. Bell at True Colors tour in Houston, 2007:
