Ever wanted to be on TV?

Are you so desperate you'd settle for Channel 6, the City of Austin''s channel?

If so, read on!

Per the city's zero waste goals, Channel 6 is sponsoring the "Dare To Go Zero" challenge, whereby they'll film households as they endeavor to slash their waste stream to practically nothing.

More deets from the city:

Dare to Go Zero is a Zero Waste challenge for Austin families that will be filmed and aired on the City of Austin's government access channel (Channel 6), as well as online. The city of Austin recognizes and supports the concept of balanced representation in this challenge. A family can be defined as a traditional family with two parents and two kids, a single parent home, a group of students living together, etc. as long as it meets the other criteria and wants to reduce its waste stream.

Every effort will be made to select members who represent Austin's diverse community, including residents of all ethnic groups as well as people with disabilities. Applications may not be accepted without a photograph. We have instructions for submitting the photo.

If chosen to participate in Dare to Go Zero, you are agreeing to participate in a kick-off press conference in early January 2011, five weeks of filming, and an additional event at the conclusion of the show. Filming includes 2-4 hours per week of filming at your home. You also agree to attend two 2 to 4-hour days of filming at another location throughout the five weeks of the competition.

How could this be anything less than a brilliant idea?
