This just in: The American public hates the War on Drugs, but loves Mexican food.
Those are among the findings in the most recent Angus Reid Public Opinion online poll. Of the 1,003 respondents, 65% said they believe the War on Drugs is a failure. Meanwhile, more than half said they support legalizing pot, but few (8%) say other drugs – including cocaine and heroin – should be legalized.
Interestingly, while the poll found that a majority of Americans "hold favorable views on Mexican food," 78%, folks aren't as fond of the Mexican government, which a whopping 49% believe deserves most of the blame for being a "major supplier of illegal drugs to the U.S. because it has allowed the drug cartels to grow and flourish," according to the poll results. But just one third of folks (34%) think the U.S. deserves most blame for the ongoing drug war struggles for "having a population that demands illegal drugs."
