The Daily Hustle: 5/19/10
Help a desperate housecat
By Wells Dunbar, 9:01AM, Wed. May 19, 2010
The Daily Hustle will unveil a list of board and commission highlights, just as soon as he finishes cleaning the catbox …
Like the mighty Burleson Tea Party, I've declared a boycott of Austin today. And like that band of Cheetos-dusted patriots, it's hilarious to think my stance means much of anything at all.
No, seriously, with this being a dead week for City Council and the Hustle's attention drawn elsewhere, we're dropping an abbreviated installment today. In the meantime, here's some press releases about pretty trees, and desperate housecats (poor critters).
As always, please avail yourselves of any of the meetings listed below. TDH will return to regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.
What the hell else is happening?
On the city calendar: The Council Committee for Emerging Technology and Telecommunications meets in the Boards and Commissions room at City Hall, 301 W. 2nd. 3pm. They'll receive an update Music Entertainment (ME) Television, and a public access television management services contract request.
The Downtown Commission is meeting in the B&C room at City Hall. 5:30pm. Potential action is scheduled on creating “Hailing Cab” icons for taxi-seekers at designated spots.
The Environmental Board meets in the Council Chambers at City Hall. 6pm. They'll learn about the Waller Creek District Master plan and Watershed Protection's proposed 2010-11 budget.
Local activist Debbie Russell and others are holding a "Community Meeting on KeyPoint-Gate…What's Next?" It's at the new 5604 Manor community center, 6pm.
