School Jam USA Is On!
Texas U18 band competition goes international

SchoolJam Texas has gone national, and School Jam USA 2009 is taking entries. Bands with members age 13-18 compete in five regions to play 10 slots in Anaheim at the NAMM show, January 2010. The winner goes to Europe for SchoolJam Germany, as the Carson Brock Group did last year, and is eligible for prizes for the band as well as the band’s school music program.
SchoolJam USA is a one-of-a-kind battle of the bands competition. Anyone in a band, whose members are between the ages of 13 and 18, aren’t signed to a music label, and are currently registered at a high school in the United States. (All band members must be able to travel outside the country to qualify for the trip to Germany). Any genre of original music is permitted; lyrics must be approved. No cover bands.
All 10 finalists receive prize money to purchase new gear, as does their school music program. The winning band will travel to Europe next March to perform at the 2010 SchoolJam Germany finals in Frankfurt.
Last year's SchoolJam Texas finals were run by The Kids Are Alright fest founder James Mays, and held at the Parish. Carson Brock Group won first prize, and Edison Chair came in a close second. Contest closes October 15, so don't miss your chance!
