Quesoff Judges Announced, Tickets Now Available

Annual event dares to ask: How much cheese is too much cheese?

Quesoff, the cheesiest event in Austin, opened up ticket sales for its 2022 competition today and announced the lucky panel of judges tasked with deciding whose cheese reigns supreme.

On Saturday, October 8 from noon to 3pm, judges Aaron Franklin (Franklin Barbecue), Luis "Beto" Robledo of Cuantos Tacos, Rosa de Lima H of La Santa Barbacha, Vanessa Fuentes of the Austin City Council, and Matthew Odam from the Statesman will dip their H-E-B-provided chips into quesos in four categories: Meaty, Spicy, Veggie, and Wild Card. Some lucky queso master will be crowned Best In Show, so ya best start perfecting your recipes.

Among the diverse (and large) lineup of restaurants and chefs competing in this year’s dip showdown are Better Half, Eldorado Cafe, La Condesa, Distant Relatives, Huckleberry, Tejas Birria, Dirdie Birdie, Hawk's Hot Chicken out of Waco, and ONETACO (truly, this is just a fraction of the very long list of participants). Come prepared to eat a lot of cheese.

Quesoff takes place at the Mohawk (912 Red River) and benefits Central Texas Food Bank.

As for the fall’s other marquee Tex-Mex-ish food festival, be sure to pick up a copy of this week’s Chronicle on Thursday for the performer lineup and location of this year’s Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival.
