Drinking Tequila with Milagro’s Founder, Danny Schneeweiss

Including a delicious new recipe just right for Texas!

Danny Schneeweiss is from Mexico City. He and his partner, Moy Guindi, started Milagro Tequila when they were young (23) and didn’t know any better. They have built it into one of the premier Tequila companies in Mexico.

There could be a lot of reasons for their success. Danny is a brilliant marketer. He also designs their eye-catching bottles. But what attracts me to a Tequila also turns out to grab Danny’s fancy. It’s got to smell like an agave. Here he is discussing the importance of the agave and why so many Tequila distillers avoid its charms.

Sadly, most American bars don’t grok the concept of Sangrita. If they serve it at all, it’s usually bottled garbage. In Mexico, restaurants and bars vie for their customer’s loyalty by preparing the perfect Sangrita. We asked Danny to explain why this is so important.

Finally, Danny made me a drink that horrified me at first. It shouldn’t work, but it is muy delicioso. Try it yourself.
