Audio Hype: Dumpstaphunk

This veteran outfit affirms that the NOLA funk feel is alive and well.

Audio Hype: Dumpstaphunk

Dumpstaphunk is the toe-jamming, loud-talking, duck-squatting brain child of Ivan Neville, son of the fabled Aaron Neville of the Neville Brothers.

Over the past three decades Ivan has worked on projects spanning from albums with Keith Richards to touring with the Spin Doctors and along the way he has hand selected a squad of the swankiest and most soulful of swingers for your listening pleasure.

If Dumpstaphunk was a 3 course meal it would start with a juicy rhythm section, then move on to a beautiful arrangement of guitars and keys, seasoned with some soulful vocals and add a pinch of Cosmic Slop for good measure.

Do the words "free your mind and your ass will follow" mean anything to you? If yes, then I would go to the Belmont at 8pm on Saturday (06/08/2013). If not, I'd start by purchasing a Funkadelic album, then step out of your comfort zone (maybe eat some Arby's on a first date or go streaking through an elderly home), thennnnn go to the Belmont at 8pm on Saturday. Grab tickets here, and don't forget your dancing shoes.

P.S. $10 bucks says they play a Meters' song
