SXSW: Nobunny

Nobunny Loves You

SXSW: Nobunny
by Tumblr

If you like meaningful lyrics, articulate guitars and fully clothed performers...this isn't the show for you.

Nobunny wears a scummy, dingy bunny mask on stage and plays songs that hold a 3-chord Ramones drone the majority of the time. Just imagine the down and out Santa version of Dan Akroid in Trading Spaces, slap an Easter bunny head on him, take off the his pants and you might have something close to the Nobunny image. Judging from these past sentences you may think that I dislike this act, on the contrary, I eat this sh^t up!

Nobunny is the creation of Oakland-native Justin Champlin. Here is a guy who fully embraces his bubblegum punk sound, creates voltaic energy on stage and strips down to his soiled undies by the end of the show. His lyrics are pretty sophomoric and half the time you can finish his sentences with the first rhyme that comes to mind, but damn they're catchy. You may even find yourself singing along at the top of your lungs to an absurd song you've never heard before. Nobunny could make the most straight-laced, pucker-butt drill sergeant crack a smile. Get weird with Nobunny on March 16th at Hotel Vegas for the Burgermania SXSW showcase.
