What's your favorite piece of music about Godzilla? The theme from the show? "Biotech is Godzilla" by Sepultura? Looking at Guzu Gallery's new Deep Cuts show, and it looks like the old gorilla-whale is big on some Blue Oyster Cult.

The Guadalupe gallery is calling their first show of 2013 "12" tributes to our favorite music heroes." Opening tonight, March 7, it's based on four conditions for the artists: Their work must be a screen print, it must be album cover sized, it must only cost $25 and, according to Guzu themselves, "the artwork must kick ass, of course."

A who's who of local print and comic artists accepted the challenge, including Paul Hanley (of Viva the 'Nam fame), Tim Doyle, Yehudi Mercado (whose Pantalones, TX gets its own launch party Saturday and Godzilla artist Matt Frank, who sets the greatest kaiju of them all up against the great leveler.

The show kicks off tonight with a special reception at 7pm, and runs through until April 7. If you're trapped under a big rock, fear not! Remaining prints, and a select few from their last show, Strange Beasts – A Tribute to Japanese Kaiju, will be available via www.guzugallery.storenvy.com.
