Church of the Friendly Ghost's new urban planning
By Audra Schroeder, 12:37PM, Tue. Feb. 10, 2009

After walking through the Domain last weekend, I couldn't help but be nonplussed at its cookie cutter sprawl. There's no Cheesecake Factory or Barnes & Noble, but there are substitutes that taste just as vanilla. Maybe I should just get over it already?
Ever forward-thinking, Church of the Friendly Ghost has an idea for the Domain. Local composer Alex Keller is curating an upcoming series called Recreating the Domain, a series of recordings - any audible medium is acceptable - that can be used as walking tours of the North Austin space. Visitors will eventually be able to download the tours.
The call for proposals is open to all Austinites. Got an idea? Submit it, plus a resume and work samples, to the addresses below by Feb. 20.
Church of the Friendly Ghost 2803 Manor Rd Austin, TX 78702
The exhibit opens April 17 and will be featured in the Church of the Friendly Ghost's Modern Aural Sculpture Symposium South.
