The Austin Music Awards Show

Austin Music Awards

Mark your calendars for the 32nd anniversary of the Austin Music Awards on Wednesday, March 12, at the Austin Ballroom in the Austin Convention Center.

Join The Austin Chronicle in celebrating 32 years of Austin music right here in the Live Music Capital! Votes from this year’s Austin Chronicle Music Poll are being tabulated, and the winners will be announced at 7:55pm SHARP on Wednesday, March 12, at the Austin Ballroom in the Austin Convention Center.

Confirmed acts performing at the 32nd annual Austin Music Awards include:

  • • the irresistible beat of the MINOR MISHAP MARCHING BAND in a pre-show performance
  • • the YOUNGBLOODS CHOIR featuring William Harries Graham, Finley Sexton, Marlon Sexton, Lily & Io Hickman, Grace London, David & Victor Ziolkowski, and Christiane Swenson plus a few parental guests
  • • Elias Haslanger's CHURCH ON MONDAY with Dr James Polk and guest RAY BENSON
  • • electronic dance music master FRANCIS PREVE and guests
  • • a special appearance from Americana sweetheart LUCINDA WILLIAMS
  • • plus the Tex-Mex sound of the TEXAS TORNADOS closing the evening with an array of special guests

“Watching Gary Clark Jr. walk away with his first Grammy really underscores how pivotal the Austin Music Awards show is to musicians’ careers. Clark’s sweep of the top AMAs in 2013 showed what he meant to his hometown; his Grammy means the rest of the world is paying attention,” explains the Chronicle’s Margaret Moser, director of the Austin Music Awards. “That’s what we like best about our Music Awards, seeing talent cultivated and supported here rise to the top.”

In recent years, the Music Awards has seen guest and unannounced appearances from The Who’s PETE TOWNSHEND, Texas favorite son LYLE LOVETT, the mighty KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, and The Boss himself, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. With more performers to be announced, expect more surprises!

The Austin Music Awards are presented by The Austin Chronicle, SXSW, and Cap Metro Mobile App and benefit the SIMS Foundation. Sponsors of the Austin Music Awards include Greystar Apartment Homes, KUTX, Guitar Center, AT&T with GigaPower, and Planet K. This year, the Music Awards show will air live on America’s longest, continually running community television station, channelAustin (Channel 10).
